Tanjung Simpang Mengayau - The Tip of Borneo

This dramatic headdland is situated in the northern most tip of Borneo, the third largest island in the world, after Greenland and New Guinea. Located in Kudat Division, Kudat, it about three to four hours drive from Kota Kinabalu City (about 215 kilometres).

Simpang Mengayau means 'lingering junction' as it it here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu Seas flowing from the east. The sunset and full moon are just beautiful.

The Pulau Kalampunian lighthouse is a reminder of treacherous coastline and past shiwrecks. On the left is the beautiful beach of Pantai Kalampunian.

It's a lovely easy stroll to the flagpole, the Globe and the rocky outcrop that forms the "Tip of Borneo".
